A reference to the $10 million pocketed by outgoing CEO Gail Kelly perhaps?

Woolworths? “A poor year due to over-expansion.’’

Jensen was also broadly right about Telstra and CSL having moderate years, although in the case of CSL the envisaged crisis with defective vaccines happily didn’t materialise.

This time around, we asked Jensen to cast her auras over 10 of the market’s prominent laggards.

She sees a “dramatic improvement” for BHP Billiton, while Woolworths shows signs of a turnaround after June.

Slater & Gordon and Dick Smith will survive their troubles, but for the retailer 2016 will be a “roller-coaster” year.

There’s no improvement in store for Arrium holders, while stem-cell developer Mesoblast is in for an even worse year.

After early share gains, Nine Entertainment faces another tough year, as does Santos. Origin shares rebound early in the year before a “mini crash” in May or June.

"It is going to be a little bit sudden but the rains this month will help greatly," Ms Jensen, 60, of Hallett Cove, says. "I believe the droughts will break to quite a large degree, especially in SA."
